Funding for Micro-credentials:
To see if your micro-credential course is eligible for OSAP funding, please visit the following website: https://osap.gov.on.ca/SchoolSearchWeb/search/eligible_schools.xhtml
*OSAP applications for the academic year run from August 1st to July 31st, with a transition period happening from Aug 1st to Oct 1st while the Ministry reviews course approvals for the current year.
During this transition period, OSAP assessments/funding is not guaranteed, even if you are taking a previously approved OSAP eligible course. We encourage you to reach out to our office if you would like to receive OSAP for a course starting within that transition period.
OSAP and Micro-credentials: What you need to know
- OSAP funding can only be issued for ONE micro-credential course at a time. This means that course dates cannot overlap, even if the courses are taken at different institutions
- Micro-credential funding can be a combination of grant and loan funding. There is no option to only take grant funding at this time.
- Your micro-credential course must be paid for (and registration completed) before receiving OSAP.
- You can receive funding for a micro-credential course while taking full-time/part-time OSAP as long as the course is not already included in your full-time/part-time assessment.
- Processing micro-credential applications is a very manual process by the Financial Aid team and patience is appreciated.
- Contact with Financial Aid should be through your trentu.ca email address to align with privacy policy.
OSAP Deadlines for Micro-Credential Applications
Deadlines are set by the Ministry and our office requires a minimum of two weeks to process paperwork and applications.
Our Team aims to have micro-credential OSAP funding released before the course finishes when all of the below deadlines are met and appropriate documentation is approved.
| Application Deadline | Last day of study period |
| Documentation Deadline | 5 days after study period |
Repayment Information:
