Centre for Teaching & Learning
A Message from the Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning: Dr. Gillian Balfour
Welcome to the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL); we are bigger and better than ever. We have grown in our talent and capacity for supporting quality teaching and learning on both campuses, in our face-to-face and digital classrooms.
Our strategic plan focuses on three main directions of Educational Leadership, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and Indigenous Pedagogy. The CTL will continue to support and facilitate the Scholars Table and Teaching Fellows programs, Professional Learning Events, and a new initiative: the Graduate Teaching Certificate.
To support faculty and departments in bringing Indigenous pedagogy into their teaching practice, we are excited to introduce Mitch Huguenin our new Indigenous Pedagogy Specialist. Joining us November 1 is our new Senior Instructional Designer, Maureen Glynn to lead us forward in digital teaching and learning. We are also pleased to be welcoming nine Distinguished Visiting Teaching Scholars: Excellence in Pedagogical Research. These scholars are 3M winners, and nationally recognized in the sciences, humanities, and social sciences for their evidence based teaching effectiveness. This initiative is a result of a generous donation to the CTL, signals a new collaboration with the Office of Research and our commitment to educational research and inquiry on teaching and learning.
