Out on Campus

Marginalized Gender, Sexual, and Romantic Identities Peer Discussion Group and Events

What is Out on Campus?

Out on Campus is a confidential discussion group for Trent University students who are questioning their sexuality, gender identity or are in the process of coming out.  Out on Campus is led by students who have already come out to their friends and family.  Join us to listen to advice, ask questions and build relationships with a group of people who can relate to the experiences you are having.

We meet once a week in a confidential location to talk it out.  Participants can safely share as much or as little as they like.

Information on how to join will only be available to participants who sign up with us.  As much as we appreciate our allies, Out on Campus meetings are for queer/questioning students only.

If you would like to be added to our list to receive meeting information- please email outoncampus@trentu.ca with the subject line 'Subscribe me'.

Meeting times for the 2022-2023 school year are Wed. 10-12pm (Peterborough Campus) & Wednesday 5.30-7.30pm (Durham Campus). Email for locations

Queer Events Calendar

All of our queer events - along with other great campus events -  are posted on the Student Experience Portal at trentu.ca/sep

If you wish to have your queer positive community featured in our calendar send us an email outoncampus@trentu.ca

Other Queer Organizations at Trent

Trent Queer Collective (TQC) is a student group that focuses on organizing events that create social safer spaces for queer people.  Their events are great spaces to meet other queer folk in the Trent and Peterborough community.  It is also an opportunity to get involved if you are interested in organizing events.

Centre for Women and Trans People (CWTP)  is an organization that runs events that challenge the oppressive ideas, actions, institutions and systems that impose limited understandings of sex and gender, and reproduce sexism, cisprivilege and transphobia.  They are a great organization to volunteer with or attend any of their social justice events such as Self-Love Week in February.

Other Resources

Check out our document with an ongoing list of online queer resources for queer people and their allies including Trent's name change form, resources in the Peterborough community, healthcare at Trent, career resource for trans and non-binary folks and more!

Resource Guide

We also offer a comprehensive guide to 2SLGBTQ+ terminology.  This was last updated January 2021 and is by no means a definitive guide but a starting point for allies and queer students.
