Black Student Support

Black Student Peer Discussion Group and Events

What is Black Student Support ?

The Office of Student Affairs in partnership with the Centre for Human Rights and Equity (CHREA) aim to deliver a diverse range of programming that acts to ease the social and academic transition from high school to university. Founded in the Summer of 2020,  the Black Student Support program is a safe space for current Trent Black students to come together for support and conversations around their Black experience at Trent, the Peterborough & Durham community and beyond. This confidential discussion group is led by student facilitators who have a lived experience in the Black community. In addition the program runs other educational and social events during the year that are open to allies and the wider campus community.

If you want to join the discussion group, please send us an email at blackstudentsupport@trentu.ca

  • 2022-2023 meeting times are Tuesdays at 5pm (Durham Campus) and Thursdays at 5pm (Peterborough Campus). Zoom links available as well.

While the date and time of the meetings are posted publicly, the group meeting location/Zoom video details are confidential to respect group members and the conversations that will be shared.   Information on how to join will only be provided to participants who sign up by emailing us at blackstudentsupport@trentu.ca or register directly here

As much as we appreciate allies, these meetings are for Black students only. Check out our Upcoming Events or follow our Instagram/Facebook pages (@trent.bss) for educational programming that is open to allies and the wider campus community.
