Calling all graduating LEC students! You are invited to join to join us in the Pit Thursday April 3rd, from 4:30 - 5:30 pm for our Graduation Reception! Celebrate your accomplishments with friends and reminisce on your time as an LEC student. We will have grad gowns and decorations for photo opportunities! Join LEC Cooks in the LEC Pit (ECC 206), from 5:00-7:00 pm on April 1, 2025, as we de-stress for exams with coffee and colouring! Our team will provide colouring pages and supplies, as well as coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and some cookies for you to snack on!

The Great Toad Hunt!

 

The colourful toads have invaded Symons Campus and Trail College once again! Find a set of 5 different colours and return it to the Lady Eaton College Office (open 9am-4pm) each day from March 20th-28th (excluding weekends) for a Toad Hunt Champion sticker and an entry in our Grand Draw!!!

Each student is limited to one entry per day. We will also be hiding one elusive Golden Toad each day, so keep an eye on our Instagram stories for daily hints. If you return a Golden Toad, you will receive a toad plushie!

Photo Contest!

 

Calling all Lady Eaton College students! The photo contest is officially open!! We hope that you've had the chance to take some toadally awesome photos of LEC or with LEC vibes. If not, don't worry, the contest is open from February 1st until February 28th at 11:59 pm. Before you submit a photo, please make sure that you read over the rules carefully. To submit a photo, go to your MyTrent under the Services tab, go to Campus events then click on the icon that says Photo Contest.

Rules:

  1. No individual may submit more than one (1) photo.
  2. Photos entered in previous Lady Eaton College contests will not be accepted.
  3. The subject matter of the photo submitted must be representative of Trent University. Any Photos depicting illegal activity will be disqualified.
  4. Unless otherwise stated at the time of submission, By Submitting a photo, I authorize the use of my photograph by Trent University for, but not limited to, publication on Trent Websites, Trent Archives and digital preservation, Lady Eaton College social media posts, and Trent Photo Albums.
  5. Submit photos using a form in your MyTrent portal between Saturday February 1st and Friday February 28th, 2025 at 11:59pm.
  6. Cash Prizes will be awarded for the 1st ($100) 2nd ($60) and 3rd ($40) place photos.

Annual Art Auction

LEC's Annual Art Auction is coming back! Are you a student artist looking to make money from your art? LEC is offering you the opportunity to submit up to three original pieces to be sold in our annual art auction!


Submissions will be accepted in the Lady Eaton College Office, during our office hours, from January 13th-24th! We toadally can't wait to see the art you make and the pieces you submit!

Great Egg-spectations Pottery Event

Unleash your creativity and let your imagination flow at the LEC Great Egg-spectations Pottery Event! If you like it, put a wing on it and sign up to reserve your spot for this TWO PART workshop and make your very own pottery chicken!

The making of the chickens will be done on Jan 20th from 4-6 pm in the Lady Eaton Dinning hall. The painting of the chickens will be done on Jan 27th from 4-6 pm in the same place. To ensure that no materials or spaces are wasted, we request that you only register for the event if you are able to make it for BOTH of the dates mentioned above. Register below!

As the final event of our Fall College Weekend, join us as we take a trip to Canada's Wonderland! The bus departs from LEC at 9am and leaves Canada's Wonderland at 8pm.

Beyond Extinction: Ashley Fellow Public Lecture

The Ashley Fellowship, featuring Subhankar Banerjee presents "Beyond Extinction: Art & Visual Culture for Biodiversity & Justice" 

Subhankar will share his recent and ongoing work from three places: the Arctic in the Canada-US borderland (where he first became an environmental artist and advocate); the Chihuahuan desert in the Mexico-US borderland (where he now lives); and the Sundarban mangrove of the Bangladesh-India borderland (near where he was born). In each instance, he will offer a long view—spanning decades, centuries, even millennia—to show how art and visual culture can reframe our understanding of the intensifying biodiversity crisis. He will also explain how images can help shape a more inclusive and just framework for biodiversity conservation that honors the rights and needs of Indigenous and other rural peoples.

Our summer Book Club is back! This year with a twist! For our first book we have a prompt and it is Critters! We will be meeting bi-weekly, on May 21st, June 4th, and June 18th. For the second meeting, we are asking readers to be halfway through their book.

The LEC Pottery Series is back with it's Summer 2024 event: Glazed and Confused!
On July 10th, we met with an instructor from the Art School of Peterborough who lead the group through crafting their very own piece of Snail pottery.
On July 24th, the group will meet again to paint their pieces before they are sent to the kiln and prepared for pick-up!
Both events will be from 4-6pm. In order to register, you must be available for both events.
