Training

Training is a crucial aspect of the Science Safety program. Training is provided to ensure the health and safety of all workers, students, and volunteers, protection of property, and to ensure legislative compliance.

The following training modules are mandatory for all persons working in Trent University science spaces, and must be completed at least once every 3 years:

  • Science Safety Program Core Principles
  • Lab Safety Orientation
  • WHMIS

Additional training may be required as per your specific duties. Your need to complete any of the following modules should be determined in consultation with your supervisor:

  • Autoclave
  • Biosafety
  • Compressed Gases and Cryogenic Liquids
  • Chemical Safety Program
  • Physical Hazards in a Lab
  • Safe Use of Fumehoods
  • Radiation Safety Level 1 and 2
  • Radiation Safety Refresher
  • Working Safely with Lasers
  • X-Ray Safety Awareness

Employee directions to access Science Safety training:
