Letter for Immigration Applications
You may be required to provide a letter from Trent for immigration applications such as extending your study permit or applying for an entry visa. Our letter will include your:
- Full name
- Student number
- Program of study
- Program start date
- Anticipated graduation date
- Credits completed to date
- Registered credits for the current term
To request these documents through the myTrent portal, follow the steps below:
- Undergraduate or Postgraduate Certificate students: Register > Verification > International Immigration Letter Request
- Graduate (Master’s or Ph.D.) students: Academics > Verification of Enrolment Request

Verification of Enrolment Letter
You may be asked by your employer, banking institution, or other party to verify that you are currently enrolled at Trent. You can request a Verification of Enrolment Letter from the Office of the Registrar on the myTrent portal.
- Undergraduate or Postgraduate Certificate students: Register > Verification > Verification of Enrolment Request
- Graduate (Master’s or Ph.D.) students: Academics > Verification of Enrolment Request

Conferral Notice (Letter of Completion)
Once you complete your program, you will receive a Conferral Notice (Letter of Completion) by email from the Office of the Registrar or the School of Graduate Studies.
- If you completed your program in the winter term, expect to receive your notice in mid-May.
- If you completed your program in the summer term, expect to receive your notice in mid-September.
- If you completed your program in the fall term, expect to receive your notice in mid-January.

Proof of Mandatory Work Requirement
If you are entering a Trent co-op, internship, placement, or practicum that is mandatory for your program, you may be required to apply for a co-op work permit. As part of your application, you must obtain an official letter from your program stating that the intended employment is integral to your program of study and is required to graduate.
- If you are graduate student enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program with a work requirement, or you have been admitted into a Trent internship or placement course, email your Academic Department to request this letter.
- If you are an undergraduate student enrolled in the general co-op, Social Work, or Nursing program, you must submit a request for an International Immigration Letter: (myTrent > Register > Verification > International Immigration Letter)

Transcripts
To request an official, unofficial or ESL transcript, log into the myTrent portal and follow the steps below:
- Unofficial Transcript: Academics > Academic Record > Unofficial Transcript
- Official Transcript: Academics > Courses > MyCreds (the fee for each Official Transcript is $22 CAD, plus tax. Payments are non-refundable).
- ESL Transcripts: myTrent > Academics > International (available after the completion of the term).
If you cannot access your transcript due to outstanding financial obligations to Trent University, please contact the student accounts office (studentaccounts@trentu.ca) to pay the outstanding balance amount.

Proof of Health Insurance
There are three ways to request proof of health insurance coverage for your University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP).
- Visit us in person at the Trent International Office, Symons Campus, Champlain College Room CC 302.
- Email uhip@trentu.ca to receive a PDF sent to your Trent University email address.
- Phone Trent International at 705-748-1011 extension 1314.
If you require proof of health insurance coverage for your Student Health Benefits plan, you can download your coverage card by logging into the Student Health Benefits website.
