Information for Employers
Co-op and Internship Overview
The Trent School of Business and Department of Economics offers two pathways for employers to hire talented students for full-time, paid positions: Co-op and Internship. Both provide access to motivated, academically strong students who are eager to contribute to your organization while gaining valuable industry experience. Co-op and internship students bring discipline-specific knowledge and fresh perspectives to your organization, contributing to meaningful tasks and projects in fields such as accounting, human resources, marketing, finance, management, and economics.
Hosting an intern or a co-op student helps meet staffing needs, build your brand, and evaluate potential future hires. The process includes submitting a job posting, reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and selecting the right fit. Each student is supported by a supervisor with your organization, who provides mentorship and completes midterm and final evaluations.
Co-ops
Co-op students alternate between academic and work terms throughout their degree, completing three paid, full-time work terms (4 months each, 35 hours/week). Two of these terms are consecutive, allowing for 8-month positions.
