After reviewing the »Scientific Equipment Purchases, it may be that the space in which you wish to house your new equipment in will need to have some work done to successfully install the equipment. In that case, it will be necessary to determine what the alterations or additions to the lab need to be and what they will cost. Often that cost is borne by the researcher and so you will need to have budget available to handle this. All alterations and renovations to labs are only to be arranged through Science Facilities or through the »Facilities Management Department (fixit).
Be aware that response times to installations of electrical and plumbing systems may be quite long (as much as 4 weeks in some cases). Alterations to fixed furniture and structures may take even longer. Under no circumstances should lab personnel attempt to install these types of systems or alter building systems in any way on their own.
