Lab Services will break down from time to time or stop working. The correct process for reporting problems and getting them fixed is listed by item below.
Electrical outlet not working:
If an electrical outlet appears to have stopped working it may be a result of damage to the electrical outlet itself or a circuit has been overloaded e.g., tripped electrical breaker. Contact Fixit@trentu.ca or 705-748-1366 for assistance.
For urgent after-hours problems (after 4:30 pm and on weekends and holidays) contact Security at (705) 748-1333.
Plumbing Problems (water not working, drains plugged or leaking water):
If you are having domestic water problems of some type you will need to contact Facilities Management at fixit@trentu.ca.
If the issue is uncontrolled leakage or flooding, contact;
- Security at (705) 748-1333,
- Facilities Management at (705) 748-1366
- and Scott Roscoe, cell 705-927-8182 or and Angela Sikma 705-931-0402 so that the emergency response can be initiated as quickly as possible.
If you are having problems with the lab grade deionized (DI) water, you should contact either Scott Roscoe scottroscoe@trentu.ca or Angela Sikma angelasikma@trentu.ca and indicate which building the issue is occurring in.
Fume hoods not functioning or in alarm:
If the fume hood is not working or in alarm, do not use.
- Secure any open chemical, close the sash and contact Facilities Management (FM) immediately at (705) 748-1366.
- Following the initial contact with FM please let Scott Roscoe know about the issue as well.
- Post a notice on the fume hood as "Do not use" until it has been repaired by Facilities Management.
Other Lab Services:
If any of the other lab services are non-functional, contact Scott Roscoe or Angela Sikma. We will investigate and contact Facilities Management.
After hours contact is always through Security at (705) 748-1011 ext. 1328 or emergency ext. 1333.
