Eligibility
Members of CUPE Unit 1 are eligible for one of either the CUPE1 Benefits Fund or the Extended Health and Dental Plan described below if:
- they are not eligible for benefits coverage under another plan and
- they are employed for more than three (3) months during the academic year or six (6) weeks during the summer semester.
Medavie Blue Cross Benefits
CUPE 1 employees are eligible for Medavie Blue Cross Benefits if they have worked more than 100 hours in any two previous academic terms in a CUPE 1 position and not have any other benefit coverage. Registration emails are automatically sent to eligible employees.

Sun Life Benefits
Eligible employees can purchase extended health, dental and semi-private hospital accommodation benefits at Trent University’s group rates while the employee is working. Application must be made with Human Resources within the first 30 days of employment. Please refer to Article 6.07 of the CUPE1 Collective Agreement for full details.
