Summary:

Smoking at Trent University is governed by the University's Smoke-Free policy, which can be found in the University’s policy library

Smoking at the University is only permitted in the following Designated Smoking Areas:

  • At the entrance to G Lot (west side)
  • East of N Lot
  • North of Otonabee College Residence (west of DNA / LHS)
  • Traill College (between Kerr House and Scott House)
  • East of the Gzowski College turning circle
  • LEC Annex (north-east corner)
  • Champlain Annex (south-west corner)
  • Traill Annex (north side)
  • Trent Durham GTA - Walkway south of Building B

Each area is identified by a Designated Smoking Area sign.

Smoking tobacco, cannabis, vaporizers, or other similar products using electronic cigarettes (vaping) is prohibited in the following areas:

  • University buildings
  • Within 9m of doors, windows, and the air intakes of building ventilation systems
  • University vehicles
  • Sports fields and within 20m of a sports field
  • Playgrounds and within 20m of a playground
