This course provides a practical introduction to the essential tools, techniques, and processes required to plan and manage projects effectively. Aligned with PMBOK® principles, this course walks participants through the full project life cycle—from initiation to close-out.
Through real-world examples and hands-on activities, learners will gain skills in goal setting, planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder communication. Designed for those new to project management or managing projects informally, this course is ideal for professionals across nonprofit, business, and public sectors. No prior experience required.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define what a project is and explain the core components of project management.
- Identify the five phases of the project life cycle (Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Control, and Closing).
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of a project manager.
- Develop a basic project plan including scope, timeline, and budget.
- Use common project management tools such as Gantt charts, work breakdown structures (WBS), and risk registers.
- Apply simple methods to track progress, manage risks, and adapt to change.
- Communicate project status effectively to stakeholders.
