This program explores stereotypes, biases, and racism between Indigenous Peoples and Settlers as well as celebrating Indigenous culture.
Course Objectives:
Participants will demonstrate practical knowledge of:

Sessions:
There will be two sessions to attend:
1. PART A
In this 3-hour interactive session, participants explore the true and historic relationship between Indigenous Peoples and settlers. We will reflect on stereotypes, biases, and racism that still exist. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their personal identities and learning within educational systems and discuss ways to make a difference in sharing these truths.

2. PART B
In the session, participants will celebrate Indigenous culture. The sessions will vary but may include visiting the tipi, finding out more about Indigenous history within the Peterborough area, and watching a movie.
- Saturday, February 1, 2025: 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM at Trent University ($15 recommended but Pay What You Can)
OR
- Saturday, November 8, 2025 and/or Sunday, November 9, 2025: Attend 2 sessions from the Annual Elders & Traditional Peoples Gathering
How to Register:
Registration can be completed through the micro-credential portal.
You must register with REFRAME for Part B, including the stargazing and micro-credential, using this link: SPECIAL EVENT: Stargazing and Microcredential – ReFrame Film Festival
Once the event is completed you will be emailed to register for the PART A
Program Fees:
The fee for the micro-credential is $50.
