Cybersecurity breaches are becoming a common and frequent area of concern for organizations of all sizes. This micro-credential will assist you with understanding how cyber issues work, how to manage your compliance obligations, and how to plan appropriately for a cyber event.This micro-credential is aimed at management, who should have an awareness of cybersecurity issues. It is not a technical program but clarifies where organizations have legal and ethical obligations to manage data effectively.It also shares information on how to manage phishing, scams, and basic security, which can be easy and cost-effective to manage.

Program Length: 4 weeks with 1 hour online meeting per week in addition to online study

Participants will learn:
- Why cybersecurity matters
- Cybersecurity issues for community and small/medium sized organizations (phishing and scams, basic protection, and legal/ethical obligations)
- Data loss and PII—legislative requirements (PIPEDA, Ontario Privacy Act)
- How to manage a data breach
- Resources and tools to help
Evaluation:
Participants will:
- Complete quizzes and multiple-choice questions to confirm understanding
- Participate in discussions
- Plan steps to manage cybersecurity

Prerequisites:
Participants in this program should have a basic understanding of computers and how to use them. Basic understanding of email, the internet, social media and common applications like Microsoft Office would be helpful to understand the context of the issues.
