Trent offers students and community members with an opportunity to improve their French language skills and to receive recognition for their proficiency level for the purposes of career advancement or further study.
Course Benefits:
- Enhance employability with a recognized language credential
The digital badge (French as a Second Language Level 4 ) provides tangible evidence of French proficiency at an early level, which is attractive to employers who value bilingual or multilingual staff. - Open doors to future roles requiring basic French
Particularly relevant in Canada, where even a modest ability to communicate in French is a plus for careers in customer service, hospitality, government, tourism, and NGOs. - Build transferable soft skills
Such as cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and communication skills that are increasingly important in globalized and multicultural workplaces. - Lay the groundwork for professional bilingualism
Especially useful for university students and young professionals who plan to pursue federal positions in Canada, or careers where a second official language can lead to higher classification levels or salary incentives.
Students and community members at any level can take the program. A placement test must be completed.
Students who successfully complete up to level 12 will have reached the BBB level required by the Public Service Commission of the Government of Canada to be considered intermediately proficient in reading, writing and speaking in a second language.
