Digital Marketing Fundamentals

Digital Marketing Strategies for Nonprofits is a specialized course designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge to leverage digital marketing tools and strategies effectively within Nonprofit Organizations (NPOs). This course explores the fundamentals of nonprofit digital marketing, website optimization, content marketing, social media marketing, analytics, and the tools necessary for achieving digital marketing success.

Course Objectives:

  • To introduce Nonprofit Digital Marketing including its significance, unique challenges, and opportunities.
  • To optimize Websites for Nonprofits for enhanced user experience, accessibility, and conversion rates.
  • To develop strategies for Content Marketing tailored to nonprofit audiences, emphasizing storytelling and engagement.
  • To implement effective Social Media Marketing strategies to build community, increase visibility, and drive engagement for nonprofit causes.
  • To utilize Analytics and Measurement tools to evaluate digital marketing performance, track key metrics, and optimize strategies.
  • To empower students with Mastery of Tools essential for nonprofit digital marketing success including platforms for email marketing, fundraising, and volunteer management.

  • Overview of digital marketing in the nonprofit sector
  • Unique challenges and opportunities
  • Digital marketing trends and innovations

2. Website Optimization for Nonprofits

  • Principles of user-centered design for nonprofits
  • Website accessibility and compliance
  • Conversion rate optimization techniques

3. Content Marketing for Nonprofits

  • Developing a content strategy aligned with nonprofit goals
  • Creating compelling storytelling content
  • Content distribution channels and tactics

4. Social Media Marketing for Nonprofits

  • Utilizing social media platforms for nonprofit branding and engagement
  • Strategies for community building and supporter activation
  • Paid advertising and organic reach optimization

5. Analytics & Measurement for Nonprofit Digital Marketing

  • Key performance indicators (KPIs) for nonprofit digital marketing
  • Tools for tracking and analyzing digital marketing campaigns
  • Data-driven decision-making and optimization strategies

6. Empowering Mastery: Tools for Digital Marketing Success

  • Overview of essential tools and platforms for nonprofit digital marketing
  • Integration of tools for email marketing, fundraising, volunteer management, etc.
  • Case studies and practical applications of digital marketing tools

Evaluation:

This course is a graded course where a complete or incomplete grade will be issued. To receive a Completion of this course, a student must:

  • Participate in online discussions.
  • Complete lesson quizzes, reflections, or case studies.

  • March 2 - March 28, 2026 (must be completed within 4 weeks)
  • May 1 - May 28, 2026 (must be completed within 4 weeks)
  • February 1 - February 28, 2027 (must be completed within 4 weeks)
  • May 3 - May 28, 2027 (must be completed within 4 weeks)

All the courses are delivered online and asynchronously to enable participants to complete the work in their own time.

Courses are competitively priced, and registrants may qualify for OSAP or the Canada Ontario Job Grant, which offers support for employers.

The fee for the micro-credential is $375, and there are no additional fees for textbooks or materials.

Prerequisites:

There are no formal prerequisites for this course, although familiarity with basic marketing concepts and nonprofit operations would be beneficial.

Conclusion:

Digital Marketing Fundamentals for Nonprofits equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively leverage digital channels to advance nonprofit missions and engage stakeholders.
