The Trauma-Informed Pedagogy Community of Practice (TIP-CoP) is a community of scholars based at Trent University composed of faculty, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and others involved in educational activities from universities across Canada. The TIP-CoP focuses on advancing trauma-informed pedagogy in post-secondary education, including: 

• Bringing together scholars interested in Trauma-Informed Pedagogy
• Promoting expertise in TIP research including evidence-based assessment and implementation of TIP
• Bringing awareness of TIP to others in educational institutions
• Building capacity for cross-disciplinary TIP work at various institutions across Canada
• Considering TIP in the Canadian context:  What differences does our national context make to TIP work?
• Fostering cross-institutional and cross-disciplinary collaborations and approaches to TIP 

Our first collaborative project was a Trauma-Informed Pedagogy Symposium Day in November 2025. This event featured the work of faculty and staff who research  TIP with the goal of fostering conversation and connection across disciplines and institutions.

Our current work focuses on building capacity for collaborative writing projects including:  

• An environmental scan of TIP at Canadian institutions of higher education
• A scoping review of TIP scholarship at all levels of the 4M Framework (micro, meso, macro, mega)
• An international survey and study of knowledge about, and attitudes towards, TIP.
