The Trent Teaching Commons (then the Centre for Teaching and Learning) held its inaugural SoTL Symposium on February 21, 2024. This event was an internal symposium that allowed Trent faculty, particularly our Teaching Fellows and Wickerson Foundation Fund award recipients, to share their research in teaching and learning. The conference theme was “Teaching and Learning from One Another,” a title that reflected our goal to foster dialogue amongst our SoTL scholars and engagement with the wonderful research undertaken by our faculty. The symposium featured a keynote address by Dr. Melissa Hills of MacEwan University on Learning from Ourselves. We also celebrated five years of grant funding from the Wickerson Foundation Fund, which supported projects on Universal Design for Learning.

Our 2026 SoTL Symposium built on the success of our first event and was held on February 19 and 20, 2026. This virtual event was developed in partnership with eight other Canadian universities and featured paper presentations, workshops, projects in progress, and educational development work. We look forward to hosting our next conference in winter 2028.
