The Office of the Provost & Vice-President Academic provides leadership for Trent University’s academic mission, including academic planning, program quality, curriculum development, academic integrity, faculty processes, and the continued enhancement of the student learning experience.
Working closely with the President, Deans, faculty, staff, students, and Senate committees, the Provost’s Office supports the policies, programs, and academic priorities that shape teaching, learning, research, and scholarship across the University.

Dr. Mark Skinner
Dr. Mark Skinner is Provost & Vice-President Academic at Trent University, where he provides executive leadership for the University’s academic mission, priorities, planning, and operations.
A leading rural gerontology scholar, Dr. Skinner is internationally recognized for his research on aging rural communities around the world and has been honoured by the Royal Society of Canada. Since joining Trent as a geography professor in 2006, he has held several academic leadership roles, including Canada Research Chair in Rural Aging, founding director of the Trent Centre for Aging & Society, and Dean of Humanities & Social Sciences for seven years.
Dr. Skinner is also a champion of collaborative, community-based research and was honoured with Trent University’s inaugural research impact award. As Provost, he works with Trent’s senior leadership team, Deans, faculty, staff, and academic committees to support excellence in teaching, research, community-engaged scholarship, and the student learning experience.
