Sex Education

April 27 - May 8, 2026 (excluding the weekend)

This alternative placement will give teacher candidates grounding in the information and approaches required to teach sex education. Our time together will focus on our own learning (for most of us did not receive good sex education ourselves), and learning about teaching these topics. The first two weeks involve in-class activities. The final two weeks will require independent study including readings, films, and the culminating task of creating your own unit plan, including lesson plans, specific to one grade level and its curriculum expectations. These will be uploaded onto a website for all Trent TCs to access.

Expectations:
In-class sessions are mandatory and follow the end of practicum. Students will then have the summer (within their own schedule) to work on unit plans.

For more information about this opportunity or to sign up, please contact Densie Handlarski at denisehandlarski@trentu.ca or at 705-748-1011 x7217
