Sex Education
***This placement is available and will be fully online***
This alternative placement will give teacher candidates grounding in the information and approaches required to teach sex education. Our time together will focus on our own learning (for most of us did not receive good sex education ourselves), and learning about teaching these topics. The first two weeks involve in-class activities. The final two weeks will require independent study including readings, films, and the culminating task of creating your own unit plan, including lesson plans, specific to one grade level and its curriculum expectations. These will be uploaded onto a website for all Trent TCs to access.
Options:
1) In-class learning from April 26 - 30 for any Teacher Candidates interested in learning about sex education and best practices.
2) The entire Sex Ed Alternative Settings Placement. The in-class portion is April 26 - May 7 and then Teacher Candidates create a full unit plan.
