Mature & Transfer Student Orientation

There are a number of programs available to new students to prepare them for the start of their academic life at Trent. While all these programs and activities are important and meaningful, some of the events may not be pertinent to students who are mature or transferring form another post-secondary institution.

While all orientation programming is open to any new Trent University students, there are several events that are specifically targeted to groups of students. On this page, you will find information about current orientation programs and how a mature/transfer student can be involved, along with a link to specific programming geared to engage and prepare mature students for the start of their academic life at Trent.

Questions about a particular event/program or starting at Trent? Be sure to get in touch. You can contact us at orientation@trentu.ca or 705-748-1011 x 7888.

Mature Student Orientation Programming

Are you beginning your studies at Trent after being away from school for a while?  Mature learners are students entering Trent who are over the age of 21 and coming to post-secondary education for the first time.  Mature students are encouraged to attend pre-arrival workshops prior to Orientation Week and social events during Orientation Week to connect with other mature students.

Some great events to check out in the Orientation schedule for Peterborough campus:

  • Mature & Transfer Lunch - Monday, Sept 1, 2025 12pm-1pm at Otonabee College
  • Mature and Transfer Student Social Cafe - Tuesday, Sept 2, 2025 10:00am-11:30am at Lady Eaton College
  • Mature Student Social - Tuesday, Sept 2, 2025 6pm-8pm at Traill College
  • Smart Start: Academic Success and Community - Wednesday, Sept 3, 2025 11:00am-12:00pm at Otonabee College

Join Academic Skills for sessions to get ready for class: workshops on reading, time management, notetaking, and more.
