What is the Gzowski College Entrepreneurship and Innovation Micro-credential?

Micro-credentials are skill-based certifications, focused on specific subjects that match your area of interest and your learning goals. They are short and focused opportunities for developing your skills in core areas. This 7-hour program introduces leadership and skills building to students in any discipline who want to learn more about entrepreneurial solutions to challenging social issues. Completing this micro-credential demonstrates your learning and leadership – and, you receive a credential and a digital badge issued by Trent University that you can include on your resumé and LinkedIn profile to demonstrate your attainment of a particular skill set.

Not interested in becoming an entrepreneur? No problem. The skills you will gain are transferable to any industry or career path.  The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Micro-credential provides a chance to develop soft skills like mastering feedback, networking and communication, and leadership skills. You will also have an opportunity to meet one-on-one with industry experts and leaders in innovative enterprises.

Sessions include:

  • One hour introduction (Details sent to registrants)
  • Soft Skills Workshop in partnership with SkillsCamp
  • Mentor Match: you will be matched with a recognized professional/business leader based on your interests and values for a 1 hour conversation
  • Networking workshop with Careerspace

Option 2: Choose a Gzowski College Certificate if you want to explore other areas of leadership with fewer mandatory sessions

Description

The Gzowski Certificate is available to all Trent University students who are interested in leadership, cultural awareness, responsibility, volunteerism, and governance. Attending events at Trent University in key areas helps you to earn your certificate and engage with the Trent University community of students, alumni, staff and faculty members.

In addition, completing the Certificate program helps to expand your University involvement. You can also include your Gzowski College Certificate on your resume or in your lists of accomplishments that you prepare for future employers, to show the additional leadership skills you gained during your degree. The Certificate demonstrates to future employers that you have developed valuable skills during your time at Trent.

Three Certificates for you to select from!

We offer three different certificates you can choose from. You must attend six events to complete the requirements for a single certificate. You can choose to complete more than one certificate, too: all we ask is that you sign up for, and complete, one certificate at a time and the events you choose to attend cannot count toward more than one certificate. This means that if you plan to complete two certificates you must complete a minimum of twelve events/programs/initiatives.

Each Gzowski College Certificate asks you to include events or initiatives from a variety of categories. After you register, we will help you to identify the events and programs that help you complete your certificate.

You can choose to complete a Gzowski Certificate in:

  • Community Engagement and Career Readiness
  • Community Engagement and Leadership
  • Cultural, Community and Indigenous Engagement

Sign up for the program and we will email you on how to complete your certificate. You can register any time and you can take as long as you want, up until you graduate, to complete a certificate.
