Positive Space Training
All spaces at Trent should be safe for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity and expression.

Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Training
The Centre for Human Rights, Equity, and Accessibility coordinates and offers various training initiatives related to the AODA.
Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) - Training Requirements for Employees and Volunteers:
As part of Trent University's commitment to fulfilling our legal requirements of the AODA and building a cultural of inclusivity, we are offering AODA training to all members of the Trent community. Please note that for employees and volunteers these trainings are required.

Upcoming Training Sessions:
AODA Customer Service Standard Training: Monday January 25, 2021 @ 10:30 am – 11:30 am
Virtual: via Zoom
This training is a legislated requirement for all employees and volunteers upon commencement of employment/volunteer duties at Trent. The employee only needs to complete the training once. It is offered online through Blackboard and also virtually. This virtual session will be one hour in length and will cover required elements of the AODA Customer Service Standard. A certificate of completion will be provided for employees’ records.

Accessible Documents Training
The Centre for Human Rights, Equity, and Accessibility coordinates and offers various training initiatives related to Accessible Documents.
Trainings include the following:
- Accessible MS Word and MS Word Forms
- Accessible Adobe PDF and PDF Forms (using Adobe Pro)
- Access MS Excel
- Accessible MS PowerPoint
- Customized training upon request

Develop an understanding of how to create accessible documents and forms with examples in real-time.

Develop an understanding of the basics for creating accessible PowerPoint documents.

Accessible Document Training for PDF Documents and Forms (Adobe Pro):
Thursday March 25, 2021 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am
Virtual: via Zoom
This workshop will provide a fairly in-depth look at creating accessible PDF documents using Adobe Pro software including converting from MS office, creating tags for tables, images and text. PDF form creation will also be discussed. *Please note that Adobe Pro is required to make PDF documents fully accessible. The PDF reader does not have required functionality. Fox-it Phantom can create accessible PDFs, but Fox-it software will not be discussed in this workshop.

Valuing Diversity Training
The Centre for Human Rights, Equity, and Accessibility offers a workshop on valuing diversity, respecting individuals & supporting equity and inclusivity.

Upcoming Training Sessions:
Via: STEPS: Skills to Enhance Peer Support
- There is no formal enrollment process, leaving the opportunity open for students to participate in specific workshops without the commitment of the certificate.
- Online registration is required for attendance at all workshops. Registration is located on the Student Experience Portal.
- Due to COVID-19 precautions all workshops will be offered in an online format for the Fall 2020 semester.
