How to file a Complaint or Incident

Filing a Complaint or Incident with the Equity and Human Rights Office (EHRO)

To report, please follow these steps:

Complete the Complaint and Incident Form: Submit a written account of the incident(s), including relevant dates, times, locations, and individuals involved. Supporting documentation—such as emails, messages, or witness statements—can be included.

Submit the Complaint or Incident: Email the signed and dated form to humanrights@trentu.ca or hit "submit" on the Microsoft form.

Deadline for Submission: Complaints and Incidents must be filed within five months of the alleged incident, unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Reporting an Incident

If you have witnessed or experienced an act of discrimination, harassment, racism, or hate (for example, ableism, racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, Islamophobia, xenophobia, antisemitism) you can file a complaint either formal, a formal witness, anonymously. If you would just like to speak to someone in the office, feel free to fill out a form or reach out to us directly.

We respect your pace, your comfort, and your decision. You do not have to go through this alone.
