Co-op programs at Trent are direct-entry which means that there are a limited number of spots available and an application is required for admission. Some co-op programs do offer a transfer-in option which is only available to full-time first year students who started their studies in September. Not all co-op programs offer a transfer-in option.
Students who are considering applying for co-op are encouraged to do their research about their program of interest. A good place to start is reviewing the co-op website in detail, specifically the FAQ and the work term schedule pages.
The application to transfer into co-op will be open on myTrent from December 1, 2025 - January 11, 2026. Admission requirements vary for each program and can be found below. Students who wish to apply can do so on the myTrent portal under the Academics section.
To learn more about the co-op experience, admission requirements and application process, students are encouraged to attend a virtual information session on Thursday December 4, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Registration for the session is available on the Student Experience Portal Peterborough events calendar.

Students may apply during their first year if they are on track to complete the following courses with a minimum combined average of 80%:

Yes, please apply! If accepted, the co-op team will happily work with you and your SAS advisor to make sure you have a plan that sets you up for success.
I have transfer credits from another school. Am I able to apply to transfer into a co-op program?
Current students applying to transfer into co-op can use up to 5.0 transfer credits towards the completion of a co-op program. Please note that students cannot fast-track through a co-op program. All co-op programs are a minimum of four years in length and follow a specific study and work term schedule. Please visit the work term schedule page for more information.
I am currently pursuing a joint major. Am I eligible to transfer into a co-op program if one (or both) of my majors offer co-op?
Students in a co-op program must pursue a single major but have the opportunity to customize their degree with a minor, specialization and/or option. If you choose to explore these degree components, please consult with your Co-op Coordinator and an Academic Advisor.
