New Students Discover Trent’s 100+ Clubs and Groups

Annual clubs and groups day brings together new and returning students eager to get involved in campus life at Trent

An influx of students eager to get involved with the nearly limitless on-campus clubs and activities at Trent gathered on the Bata Podium on September 14 for the annual Clubs and Groups Day, featuring representatives from over 100 different registered clubs and groups – ranging from everything from academics and campus safety to cycling and fashion,, and more.

“Clubs and Groups Day is always a success,” said Brandon Lucey, a fourth year Economics student who is involved in Trent’s Me to We Mobilizers group. “I’m here to make connections with other clubs and groups on behalf of Me to We, but also to make personal connections. Like everyone else, I have multiple interests and walking around here today I’ve noticed that there are so many things that have grabbed my attention, even four years later.”

Hosted by the Trent Central Student Association (TCSA), the annual Clubs and Groups Day is an important event that continues to not only connect students with the endless variety of possible extracurriculars to join-in and be a part of at Trent, but also allows clubs and groups to be recognized by other students. It’s a great way to spark the interest of new students, and it may even inspire students to start a new club or group if they choose to do so.

For Bianca Nucaro-Viteri, fourth year student and founder of Trent Writers Society, this was definitely the case. “When I arrived to Trent in first year, there wasn’t a writing group available to students, so I started one,” she said. “Three years later, we are large and established. Events like this really help us get the word out that we do exist, and I’m always shocked by the number of students, like me, who are interested.”
