Book Today or Next Week

Academic Advising offers individual in-person and remote appointments Monday to Friday. Meet with an academic advisor in-person, via video chat, or on the phone. Appointments become available for booking on the Student Experience Portal one week in advance, and a limited number of appointments may be released one day in advance. Same-day bookings are also available to book by visiting your College or calling the Academic Advising phone line.

NOTICE: No Academic Advising appointments will be available on Tuesday, July 14 and Tuesday, July 21, 2026 as Academic Advisors will be participating in team planning for the upcoming academic year.

Book an appointment using the Student Experience Portal

Appointments become available for booking one week in advance, and a limited number of appointments may be released one day in advance. Please check the Student Experience Portal for availability starting at 12:00pm EST (noon).

Appointments often book up once they become available, so if you do not see anything available (e.g., the calendar is blank) or the availability does not work with your schedule, you can check back the following day after 12:00pm EST (noon). Appointments also become available when there is a cancellation.

How to book an advising appointment in the Student Experience Portal

  • Sign into the Student Experience Portal with your Trent username and password.
  • Click on “Book Appointments” in the left menu to get started. Select the campus that you attend (Peterborough campus or Durham campus)
  • Select 'view calendar' to see the next available appointment or select 'book by provider' to search for available appointments by Academic Advisor.
  • Select time slot and complete the form.
  • A confirmation email with the appointment details will be sent to you along with a reminder email. If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so by following the links provided in the emails.
  • If you have difficulty using the online booking system you can call the academic advising phone line at (answered by trained, upper-year student staff) 705-748-1488 for assistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am having difficulty booking an appointment, what else can I do?

During Priority Course Registration, demand for Academic Advising appointments is very high. We encourage you to use the resources available on this site that guide students through the course selection, scheduling, and registration process; we include how-to guides, short videos, and FAQs. Take time to review the Academic Calendar and the Academic timetable. Trained student staff can also help direct you to valuable resources and address common questions; they answer the phone lines at 705-748-1488.

There are a couple of ways to book an appointment with an Academic Advisor, so we encourage you to check the online system at 12:00pm EST (noon) when next-week and next-day appointments are released or to call at 8:50am EST to book a same-day appointment.

Staff in the College Offices are available Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm EST to provide assistance with booking the next available appointment.

Academic Advising is also available at the Trent Durham-GTA campus in Oshawa for students attending classes at that campus, and  for international students through the Trent International office.

Advising for International Students

How many appointments can I have in one week?

Students may book a maximum of one appointment per week. Exceptions may be made based on the Academic Advisor’s discretion and appointment availability.

How do I cancel an appointment?

If a student cannot make an appointment, it is important to cancel it in order to free that time for someone else. Students should use the online booking system (Student Experience Portal) to cancel an appointment at least 2 hours before it is scheduled to begin, email academicadvising@trentu.ca, or call 705-748-1011 ext. 7333 during office hours.

No Show Policy

We understand that things come up and might get in the way of attending a previously booked appointment with an Academic Advisor. If you do not show up for two appointments with Academic Advising, you will no longer be permitted to book your own appointment on the online booking system. If you have reached this booking limit, please call the advising phone line 705-748-1488 for assistance with booking.

We ask that you take the time to contact us to let us know if you can no longer attend, so that the Academic Advisor can offer the opportunity to another student in need of an appointment.
