Prof. Scarfone’s teaching and public work in philosophy focuses on how we try to live out our moral values in everyday life. He approaches ethics not just as a set of rules, but as something we figure out together through our actions, choices, and relationships. To try to better understand this, he also draws on work from psychology, sociology, and anthropology. He has previously taught at the University of Toronto, Carleton, Texas A&M, UNC Chapel Hill, and McGill.
