2020 Nursing Awards
Abigail Caddick, Preceptor Recognition Award Winner 2020!
This picture was taken in February 2020 where Abby was helping as a clinical instructor in Honduras. The group is in a primary school called el Hato. In the picture with Abby is Gloria, now 7 years old. Abby met Gloria when she was 9 months old at a rural orphanage when she was a student with the TFSON. Wow, right? Gloria is now reunited with her mother and living in this small village where we continue to provide supports.
Our projects at this school included nutrition and sugar, along with mosquito-borne diseases!
Cathy Graham, Clinical Instructor Award Winner
As the namesake and inaugural recipient of this Award for Excellence in clinical instruction, I am honoured by this legacy and acknowledgement. The metaphor of a gardener is an apt one that recognizes the complexity of providing key elements that help students translate what’s in their head into the world of nursing practice. Clinical practice is the starting, middle and endpoint of combining the elusive amalgam of the personal and the professional. Nursing isn’t just what you do, it is who you are. I thank the mentors who contributed to my career with insight, laughter, music, and other essential elements of my nursing spirit.
