Biography
Victoria has been a registered nurse since 1993 beginning her career at the Hospital for Sick Children, where she worked on a Burn and Plastic Surgery unit and later on an Oncology and Hematology unit. Over the past 22 years, Victoria has worked as a nursing professor in both College and University settings, has coordinated and developed innovative delivery options for nursing students to study as part of their nursing education and has been nominated and received numerous teaching awards. Victoria began nursing as a diploma prepared nurse and returned to academia several times over the years to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing science and later a master’s in science degree along with a family nurse practitioner certificate. Victoria's most recent degree is a PhD in Nursing where her research and dissertation focused on women who chose to be tattooed rather than undergo breast reconstruction following mastectomy. Victoria is an advocate for women’s health, working as a Forensic Nurse Examiner/Sexual Assault nurse as part of the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Care Centre at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa and focuses some of her research studies on issues that pertain to women’s health.
