The Executive Committee of the Board of Governors established an Advisory Committee comprising external members, staff, faculty and student members of the Board along with faculty & student senators to conduct a review of the presidency and develop an updated presidential mandate for 2024-2029.

The University’s Government Relations function seeks to strategically position Trent University with government by building long-term relationships, increasing Trent’s profile and building awareness, identifying key research sectors within government priorities, creating new partnerships and supporting nation-wide and provincial advocacy strategies.

The 2025–30 Strategic Mandate Agreement between Trent University and the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security outlines shared priorities, objectives, and performance expectations for the coming years. 

The President and Vice-Chancellor is involved in Trent University’s Senate as a voting ex-officio member, meaning they are automatically part of Senate because of their leadership role at the university.
