Having taught at Trent since 2001, Dr. Andrew Vreugdenhil currently holds the position of Chair for the Chemistry Department, in addition to Head of the Inorganic Materials Research Laboratory at Trent. Andrew previously served as the Director of the Trent Materials Science graduate program, as well as the associated Centre for Materials Research.
Dr. Vreugdenhil received his Ph.D. in Inorganic Materials Chemistry from McGill University and B.Sc. Honours from Queen's University. Andrew's research specializes in the synthesis and characterization of adsorbent nano-dimensional carbon and their applications in environmental remediation and other industrial sectors. Dr. Vreugdenhil is also an active member in the Trent community, having served on the Intellectual Property and Copyright Committee, Senate, and a recipient of the Award for Educational Leadership and Innovation in 2011.
Andrew has been appointed to a Faculty seat on the Board of Governors for a two-year term effective July 1, 2025.
