Dr. Hasmet M. Uluorta is an Associate Professor of Political Studies and Global Justice and Development Studies at Trent University. He was previously a lecturer and Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of International Studies at the University of Miami, a Visiting Scholar in the Politics Department of the University of California, Santa Cruz, and was the Associate Director of the Center on Ethics at Stanford University.
Dr. Uluorta holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, a Bachelor of Social Work, a Master of Arts in Politics of Alternative Development Strategies, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science. His scholarly interests include: development studies, global political economy, globalization, psychoanalysis, socio-political impacts of new technologies, theories of international relations, U.S. politics, and work/employment strategies.
Dr. Uluorta is an active member of the academic community at Trent, having served on Senate and as Chair of Political Studies (2020-present)
Dr. Uluorta joined the Trent Board of Governors in July 2022, occupying a Faculty Seat, for a two-year term. He is currently serving a second two-year term, effective July 1, 2024.
