Gail Beggs has a passion for public service and a history of public sector leadership, including over 30 years of experience with the Ontario Public Service. Gail's public service leadership roles include Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the Deputy Minister for the Aboriginal Affairs Secretariat. Gail was also Chair of the Board and separately the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Clean Water Agency, and the Chair and Commissioner of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission. For more than 10 years, Gail served on the board of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, including as Interim Chair and as Vice Chair. Gail is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor and Masters of Science.
Since retiring from full time public service, Gail has volunteered with DeafBlind Services Ontario and the Board of Forests Ontario, and provided leadership to provincial initiatives including during the Covid-19 pandemic, on climate change resilience, consumer protection, and transportation planning. Currently Gail serves on the board of the Condominium Management Regulatory Authority, chairing the Governance Committee and as a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee.
Gail is a resident of Toronto and enjoys time with her family at their cottage in Haliburton County.
Gail Beggs was appointed for a three-year term on the Board of Governors effective July 1, 2024.
