Dr. Sanela Martic began her profound journey in the education sector with obtaining multiple degrees, including her B.Sc. from Bishop's University, M.Sc. from McMaster University, and Ph.D. from Queen's University. Dr. Martic moved on to become a Post-Doctoral Fellow at both Western University and the University of Toronto (Scarborough). Through this work, she realized her passion for teaching and quickly became an Associate Professor at the University of Oakland, USA, before joining the Forensic Science department in 2019 where she served as the Associate Chair at Trent University's Peterborough Campus.
Over the course of her academic career, Dr. Martic has made many notable contributions to the academic field including publishing over 60 peer-reviewed journals, being an active member as well as secretary and treasurer in multiple Canadian science associations, and assisting with the organization of symposiums at the national and international level. Dr. Martic finds great passion in working with the community by participating in efforts involving the Peterborough Chamber of Commerce, local science fairs, and the Ontario Provincial Police.
Dr. Martic has been appointed for a two-year term on the Trent University Board of Governors effective July 1, 2023.
