Trent's Ninth President & Vice-Chancellor
Following a comprehensive nationwide search, Trent University's Board of Governors has announced the appointment of renowned academic, educator, and administrator, Dr. Catherine (Cathy) Bruce as the University's ninth President and Vice-Chancellor. Dr. Bruce will assume the role July 1, 2024.

About the Search
Trent's Board of Governors is responsible for appointing the next President and Vice-Chancellor of the University. This is one of the most important decisions affecting the future of the University that the Board will make in the coming year.
The Presidential Search Committee is responsible for recommending a candidate for the role of President and Vice-Chancellor to the Board of Governors. The Committee's work will be guided by the Board's Special Resolution III.2 Presidential Absence, Review and Search Policy. The search also builds on the foundation of the Presidential Mandate for 2024-29, developed through extensive consultation and approved by the Board in June 2023.
To help in the search, the Committee has engaged the services of Laverne Smith & Associates, a leading Canadian firm that has worked extensively with universities.
