The International Baccalaureate is a global educational curriculum at the secondary school level. It is an academically rigorous program consisting of Higher and Standard Level courses.
Admissions
Applicants who have completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum overall score of 26, including at least three courses at the Higher Level will be considered for admission to Trent University. The bonus points for the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge are included in this assessment. English at the Higher or Standard Level is required.
For programs with “Mathematics” prerequisite requirement, we will accept the following:
Analysis and approaches (Math AA) - HL
Analysis and approaches (Math AA) – SL
Applications and interpretation (Math AI) - HL
Applications and interpretation (Math AI) – SL: will not be accepted as a “Mathematics” prerequisite, but will be accepted where “Mathematics” is recommended.
IB Certificates
IB certificate courses (both Standard and Higher Level) can be used for admission only in conjunction with another high school curriculum. The name of the matriculation certificate/diploma must be provided at the time of application. To be eligible for admission you must successfully complete an academic high school curriculum (a min. GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0)* and receive a High School Graduation Diploma/Certificate. An IBO statement of results: “DP Course awarded” cannot be used as equivalent to High School Graduation Diploma/Certificate. If you are currently enrolled in the IB Certificate/Course program, you must submit your predicted IB results (1-7 scale), confirmation that you are completing the IB Certificate/Course program, a current transcript including any mid-term/mid-year results and most importantly, the name of the matriculation certificate/diploma you will be obtaining upon completion of your current studies.*some programs will require much higher average.
Transfer Credits
International Baccalaureate Diploma and Certificate students are eligible for transfer credit consideration. Transfer credits are awarded for all Higher Level courses with a final grade of 5, 6, or 7. A maximum of five transfer credits can be awarded from the IB program.
