Our Policy Framework
At Trent University, we take a human rights-based approach in building an inclusive and respectful campus. Our Discrimination and Harassment Policy (2025) outlines how we prevent and respond to incidents of racism, hate, harassment, and discrimination across our community.

This policy applies to all members of the Trent community, including students, staff, faculty, board of governors, contractors, volunteers, and any other individual on campus employed by another organization. The Discrimination and Harassment Policy protects people on grounds outlined in the Ontario Human Rights Code, including race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, and (dis)ability. As well, the Policy looks to address systemic and individual acts of racism and hate such as: anti-Black racism, anti-Indigenous racism, Antisemitism, and Islamophobia.
This policy covers all campus locations and university-sponsored activities, including events, placements, digital spaces, and third-party contractors acting on behalf of Trent.
