Iyanuoluwa Akinrinola is passionate about being an educator, writer, and community organizer who works alongside several teachers within different Ontario school boards in the areas of curriculum planning and review, pedagogical skills development, and knowledge mobilization. She facilitates program development, program delivery, and overall operations for several enrichment programs for marginalized and racialized students. Iyanuoluwa has co-authored several educational resource books, articles, and a peer-reviewed journal articles, she has co-led various panel discussions and workshops on topics of anti-Black racism, anti-oppression & equity, and intersectionality. She has also collaborated with colleagues and community organizations to create relevant and accessible community teaching and learning resources to combat education inequity. |

Mitch has been a K-12 educator since 2004 and a part-time faculty member at the School of Education & Professional Learning, Trent University, since 2009. He teaches a number of courses in the BEd and MEd streams including Indigenous & Environmental Sustainability Education, and The Role of STEAM education. Mitch also teaches courses in the Indigenous Teacher Education Program at both Queen’s University and Nipissing University, and is an adjunct professor in the Master of Teaching program at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. Mitch is also a PhD student in the Interdisciplinary Social Research program where he is studying the effectiveness of meaningfully integrating Environmental and Sustainability Education, & Indigenous Education into STEAM pedagogy. |

Originally from Montreal, I studied traditional printmaking and papermaking in Japan for three years which culminated in my Master of Fine Arts at Concordia University. With 25 years of experience in municipal and non-profit cultural institutions, I have held education and curatorial positions with the Art Gallery of Ontario, Art Gallery of Peterborough and the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba in Brandon (MB). My teaching portfolio consists of Ontario Arts Council's Artist in Education projects as well as developing outreach programs such as the Maclaren Art Centre's Van Go. I recently taught drawing in Trent's Cultural Studies program. I will be sharing my passion and energy for community art in my teaching so that future teachers will build their art practice from the community to the classroom. I believe that the art and ideas of contemporary visual artists are powerful models for creative and critical thinking across subjects and disciplines. |

Carol Doyle-Jones, PhD, OCT has been an educator for over 25 years, teaching in elementary and secondary schools, and in Teacher Education. Carol has been a Teacher-Librarian, classroom teacher, sport coach, and continues to be a literacy advocate. Her favourite teaching moments were in a small school in Burnaby, BC, taking her grade 7 students to AquaSchool and on Outdoor Education adventures. Carol’s research and teaching centers on uncovering what it means to be a literacy educator in the 21st century. Central to this understanding includes a focus on collaborations, integrating multimodal texts and designs, and the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms. Carol works collaboratively in Indigenous Education, finding ways to walk this path as a settler educator. Carol is currently the President of the Language and Literacy Researchers of Canada and is the Editor of the Journal of Classroom Research in Literacy (JCRL). Carol is teaching in the School of Education and is a proud Trent alumni! |

I have been teaching since 2012 and throughout that time I have learned an incredible amount about teaching, learning, people, myself, and the importance of adapting material and teaching style to meet the needs of different students. What works one year with one group may not work the next and it is important to assess and evaluate teaching practices regularly. Early in my career, I had the opportunity to teach at an international school in Karamay, Xinjiang China where I designed and instructed grades 11 and 12 English and grade 11 Drama, using Nova Scotian curriculum. Afterward, I taught in a private school in Oxbow Saskatchewan where I designed and instructed grade 6 Science, 11/12 Physical Education and grade 12 English. For the last 10 years I have been designing courses and teaching across various programs at Fleming College, as well as working as an Occasional Teacher for the KPRDSB. I am certified with the OCT, and OCELT associations. I also completed a master’s degree in education with a “classroom specialist” focus. My newest academic venture is a Doctor of Education with a focus in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion which begins in September 2024. I am excited to join the Trent team as I continue my journey and look forward to working with learners and they continue on their paths. |

This is my 28th year as an educator with the PVNC Catholic District School Board. Presently I am teaching in Peterborough at St. Peter CSS in the Canadian and World Studies Department. I provide teacher-candidates with practical resources, experiences and advice that they can use when they start to teach. |

I am a Special Education Teacher with the Durham District School Board, where I work in Educational and Community Partnership Programs. Additionally, I am a Registered Psychotherapist in Private Practice, specializing in psychotherapy for clients with Anxiety and Eating Disorders. I am currently a PhD student at Brock University, where I am studying mentorship, special education, mental health, and technology. As a recently retired teacher with 30 years of experience, I know I have lots of learning to share with teacher candidates. As a faculty advisor, my class and I will be exploring the best practices in planning and assessment and a whole lot more. Understanding the learners has always been important to me as an educator. She is an education administrator with 30 years of experience in leading rural and urban (Toronto District School Board) Ontario elementary and secondary schools. Her research interests include critical pedagogy, social justice, equity, student achievement and well-being in schools and public education. Recently, she contributed a chapter to Leading for Equity and Social Justice: Systemic Transformation in Canadian Education (2022). |

I’m always inspired by observing those “eureka moments” when children and adult learners discover and make sense of new learning. Janice is a proud Trent alumni who is looking forward to working with Teacher Candidates this year in PJ Prac and PJ Mathematics. She has taught part time in the School of Education off and on over the past 20 years - both PJ Prac and PJ Math as well as TES courses in Math and STEAM. Janice brings with her over 30 years of teaching experience. She recently retired as an Elementary Principal and continues to do some supply Principal work and interviewing with KPR, one of the local school boards. Janice is excited to not only help prepare her Prac students with skills such as lesson planning and assessment, but to serve as their supporter and advisor throughout the year. She's also thrilled to be able to share her passion for mathematics teaching and learning with a group of TCs again this year. Exploring mathematics is so much fun! |

Graduating with a B.A. Honours Degree in Cultural Studies (2005), B.Ed. (2008) and M.Ed. (2019) all at Trent University, Rich has been with the School of Education in multiple capacities for over 15 years. Having spent time teaching in K-6 classrooms along with Research Assistance in Mathematics earlier in his career, Rich’s passion for educational technology was ignited through his many projects with various Ontario teacher unions, school boards, and government organizations, focusing on the dissemination of educational pedagogy and practice for teachers and students across the province. A full-time staff member in the School of Education in the role of Knowledge Mobilization Education Coordinator, Rich is also a part-time instructor, having taught at the undergraduate and B.Ed levels. Most recently, Rich has been teaching the 2nd-year B.Ed. Elective Course “Modelling Digital Citizenship Through Technology and Social Media in the Classroom” for the past 5 years, a course that Rich designed as a result of his Masters of Education studies. |

Through her work with the Daughters Project, an anti Human trafficking organization, she continues to collaborate with colleagues and the community to create resources for educators and pre-service teachers to reach our most vulnerable students. |

Brenda Schepper is delighted to be an Integrated Arts Instructor and a Faculty Advisor at the School of Education. She is also an instructor in the Teacher Education Stream. Brenda retired after 35 years from KPR as an Elementary Teacher, K-8. She was an Arts Resource Teacher during the final 8 years of her teaching career. She is passionate about Learning in the Early Years, The Arts, yoga, her dog-Emma Mae, and her large family! Brenda is also an organist and choir director at Westdale United Church in Peterborough. |

Throughout my 35 years in education, teacher, principal and now faculty advisor, I have come to appreciate that my learning path is never-ending. I am so excited to share my curiosity and passion for the teaching and learning process with my Student Teachers as they begin their own teaching journey, and that means preparing them to be the best teachers they can be in an ever-changing world. Each and every student in every classroom deserves to have the best teacher. Don’t you agree? Teachers have a monumental influence on the emotional, cognitive, social and physical well being of our precious students and when teachers have the most effective and research-based knowledge and skills, each and every student will have what they need to achieve and succeed. Natalia has been a school administrator in the Independant School sector for the past 12 years. Her focus on student well-being and social emotional learning, and student leadership led her to Trent University in 2023 to peruse a Ph.D. in the IDSR program. She obtained a Masters in Arts and Leadership from Royal Roads University. This will be Natalia's first year teaching at Trent, taking on the Yr 1 Prac I/S course. Natalia currently works part-time at an all girls independent school in Toronto in the Admissions department. Natalia loves to incorporate her 20+ years in outdoor education in to her classroom teaching. She believes incorporating nature, the use of land and the power of relationships can only strengthens ones teaching practices. |

Lisa Trefzger Clarke (she/they) is a queer and disabled mother and descendent of German & German-Jewish immigrants. Now living in Peterborough-Nogojiwanong in Treaty 20 and Williams Treaties, she is a Ph.D. student in the Frost Centre for Canadian Studies at Trent University specializing in Education, Gender and Social Justice. For over 20 years, she worked in social justice and education, research, communications and community development. Her interests include 2SLGBTQIA+ and youth engagement, public education, anti-racism/anti-oppression, trauma and resiliency, gender-based violence and harm reduction, developmental disabilities, STE[A]M learning, and Indigenous-settler relations and reconciliation. |
