An Opportunity for Celebration
Each year, the Trent community comes together to celebrate the deep heritage, culture, and influence of Black people in Canada and within Trent. From popular culture to academia, February is a month to celebrate the Black experience. This year’s Black History Month theme is “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations — From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries.” Throughout February, we invite the Trent community to learn about and celebrate the diversity and accomplishments of Black Canadians. You can join our Durham Black History Month Opening and our Peterborough Black History Month Opening as we kick off the celebrations. Black History Month provides an opportunity to reflect on Canada’s history, acknowledge ongoing systemic barriers, and reaffirm our shared responsibility to support Black communities.
