Meet your Academic Skills Instructor at Traill College
Dr. Sue Beckwith
I have been at Trent as a student many times, obtaining two bachelors’ and a master’s degree. I also have a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. I believe in lifelong learning and recently completed a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have been an Academic Skills Instructor at Trent for five years.
As an Academic Skills Instructor, I support students’ efforts to improve and refine their skills for success at university. I provide appointments to help students with skills such as time management, taking notes during a lecture, and the complexities of the writing process. As well as working with undergraduate students, I present programming for graduate students at Traill College with skill-building workshops, motivational and community-building sessions, and writing events, such as the May Writing Retreat. Trent’s Academic Skills website is a first-stop resource for many students.
