Traill College Office

Scott House 106 & 107
Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m.

The College Office is considered the first point of contact for all students looking for assistance on campus. We have student staff who are trained to assist you with scheduling your classes, Academic Advisors who can help you navigate your degree and an Academic Skills Instructor who can offer support with your assignments and study skills.

Working closely with the Traill College Cabinet, and the Residence Life Coordinator, the College Office is the place to bring any question or concern during your time at Trent University.

Meet our College Staff

Michael Eamon

Dr. Michael Eamon

Principal

This is Michael’s eleventh year as principal of Traill College. He is an active history professor at Trent, and Chair of Collegiate Way International. In the past, he has had several roles in the University including that of principal of Lady Eaton College and acting director of Trent International.

His office is in Scott House and he welcomes anyone who needs help, has questions about their studies, or just needs to have friendly person to talk with to visit. It is never a bad thing to come to the principal’s office at Traill!

Academic Advisor

As an Academic Advisor at Traill College, I support students in all undergraduate programs throughout their academic journeys at Trent, by building a connection with each student and by working collaboratively to develop an academic plan with the student’s goals and aspirations in mind. I support students in their understanding of degree requirements, and academic policies as well as provide support and resources when a student’s academic journey presents challenging circumstances.

My academic journey began at Ontario Tech University where I completed an undergraduate degree in Forensic Science, with a double minor in Chemistry and Biology. After graduating in 2011, I began a career as a Laboratory Technician at a Research and Development Laboratory. After seven years of building and testing prototypes, I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to go back to post-secondary studies to pursue a career in adult education. My Trent journey began in 2019 as the Academic Administrative Assistant in the Chemistry Department. After a 10-year hiatus from post-secondary education, I am currently working towards a Master of Education degree at Trent and am beyond thrilled to be a part of the College on the Hill team as an Academic Advisor!

Academic Advisor

As the Academic Advisor at Traill College, I am here to help undergraduate students clarify their academic goals, decide which courses to take, understand academic regulations and degree requirements, connect with the services they need and, ultimately, take charge of their own education. As part of a larger team of Academic Advisors at Trent, we want to create an on-going educational partnership between advisor and advisee that is dedicated to student learning, development, and success.

I’ve been at Trent since 2012 when I started my undergraduate degree in Mathematics in the Teacher Education Stream. During my undergraduate degree I worked in residence life for three years which solidified the fact that I wanted to work with post-secondary students instead of becoming a teacher (It’s OK to change your mind as students and to alter your path!). I then went on to complete my Master of Education at Trent while working in Recruitment and Admissions for 5 years. I loved working with prospective students and am even more thrilled now to be working with current students helping them navigate Trent!

Dr. Sue Beckwith

Academic Skills Instructor

I have been at Trent as a student many times, obtaining two bachelors’ and a master’s degree. I also have a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. I believe in lifelong learning and recently completed a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have been an Academic Skills Instructor at Trent for five years.

As an Academic Skills Instructor, I support students’ efforts to improve and refine their skills for success at university. I provide appointments to help students with skills such as time management, taking notes during a lecture, and the complexities of the writing process. As well as working with undergraduate students, I present programming for graduate students at Traill College with skill-building workshops, motivational and community-building sessions, and writing events, such as the May Writing Retreat. Trent’s Academic Skills website is a first-stop resource for many students.
