The Carol Love Rowing/Paddling Tank at the Trent Athletics Centre is a premier, one-of-a-kind training facility and the most advanced of its kind in North America. Designed to support both elite performance and community recreation, the tank allows athletes and teams to train year-round in a controlled, on-water environment.
This unique combination facility can seamlessly transform between rowing and dragon boat paddling modes; making it an exceptional space for skill development, team training, and fitness.
What the Tank Offers
Rowing Training
- Accommodates up to 8 rowers at a time
- Supports both sweep rowing (one oar) and sculling (two oars)
- Allows athletes to train at “race rate,” simulating high-performance on-water conditions
- Ideal for technique development, crew synchronization, and off-season training
Dragon Boat / Paddling Training
- Configured for up to 32 paddlers at once
- Perfect for team practices, timing work, and stroke coordination
- A valuable training space for teams preparing for events such as the annual Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival
Who Can Use It
The tank is available for:
- Trent University students and varsity athletes
- Community members who have completed a tank orientation
- Clubs, teams, and groups seeking structured training space
