Transfer Student Orientation Webinar 2025

- Time: 6-7pm with extra time for questions afterwards (feel free to stay until 7:30 if you like).

Peterborough Transfer Student Orientation is open to students who are coming to Trent (Peterborough campus) for the first time after having studied at another university or college.
Join Sylvia, Academic Transitions Advisor, and Marisha, Academic Skills Instructor, at Transfer Student Orientation where we'll cover helpful tips for course planning and understanding transfer credits, as well as academic tips and tricks for succeeding at University.
You will also meet one of Trent’s College Principals, as well as an upper-year student who completed a program at Fleming before coming to Trent. Hear about their experience adapting to a new place and what they recommend.
We will also highlight some upcoming events at Orientation Week for mature and transfer students.
So, bring your burning questions about life at Trent University and we’ll see you on the 28th!

The result is that your reading will take time and require that you read actively and critically. Join this session for an ultimate guide to managing your readings effectively and efficiently!
Tips and Tricks for Managing Your Time in University

At university, you get to be in control of how you use your time, making strong time management skills essential. Join this session to discover tips and tools for long and short term planning, reliable routines, and helpful habits to manage your time at university!
AI²: Academic Integrity & Artificial Intelligence
Tuesday, September 2nd @ 12:30pm in TSC 1.20
What do you think of when you hear "AI"? Academic Integrity or Artificial Intelligence? At university, they are intertwined! This session will cover the basics of Trent University's Academic Integrity and Artificial Intelligence policies, process, and procedures. We'll answer questions like: What does Academic Integrity mean? What is the difference between academic dishonesty, plagiarism, and cheating? What are the consequences? What is Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)? Can I use GenAI (like ChatGPT) in my classes? Join this session to explore the best practices for protecting your academic integrity and using resources wisely, so you can start your first your strong and set yourself up for success!
Intro to Your Undergrad
Tuesday, September 2nd @ 2pm: Sciences (Wenjack Theatre), Social Sciences (ENW 114), Humanities (TSC 1.22)
Join the Sciences, Humanities, or Social Sciences session, based on your planned major. Q and A with faculty and staff to help orient you to your undergrad experience. Meet others in your program and get answers to some key questions! What will my workload be like? How do I read my syllabus (What IS a syllabus?) How big will my classes be? What can I expect from my Major? What if I don't like my classes or my Major? What can I do with my degree? How do I get help with my work? We'll unpack your first-year experience and provide helpful information to help you prepare.
A Mock University Lecture
Wednesday, September 3rd @ 1:30pm in Stohn Hall (TSC 1.22)
Are you new to university lectures? Not sure what to expect when attending classes at Trent? Attend this mock university lecture! This session will begin with an Academic Skills instructor sharing tips and strategies for listening and taking good notes. Then, you’ll get the chance to test out some notetaking strategies during a mini lecture presented by a Trent professor!
