Deep Diversion

Deep Diversion at Trent

At Trent, we like to do something called "Deep Diversion." This activity occurs after you have reduced, reused, recycled, and composted all you can but still have items left. Several programs on campus support you in taking your waste diversion to the next level.

OPIRG's Free Market - Trent partnered with OPIRG more than 10 years ago to have their Free Market donation bins on campus. The Trent community can place unwanted, reusable items such as clothing, shoes and small household goods in these bins for reuse. OPIRG will redistribute your unwanted items through the Free Market at Sadlier House for - you guessed it - FREE!

Campus Clothing Swap! The SO is so appreciative of TKE's support in offering regular clothing swaps on campus. This effort is to help students not only have another convenient place to take clothes that they don't want/fit but also a chance to pick up something to wear, saving money and reducing waste. These swaps are scheduled for the last Thursday in most months during the academic year. There are no rules—pick up, drop off, or both! They are all free.

Batteries and Printer Cartridges - In most buildings throughout campus, you will also find specially labelled bins for printer cartridges and batteries. This program is supported by our Community Living Trent Highlands partnership program called " Blueboxing@trent." Blueboxing volunteers collect these materials from across campus and ship them for reuse/recycling.
