Mathematical Physics
In this joint degree program, you will discover what makes our world go round by studying core theoretical physics frameworks and the mathematical methods that form their foundations.
In Mathematical Physics at Trent, you will gain the skills and knowledge to understand the underpinnings of physical phenomena – from the cosmos, to climate, to computing. In small, hands-on classes, you’ll practise tackling problems in subjects like quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, mathematical modelling and more.
Here, you will acquire foundational and versatile analytical skills for use in a range of sectors in today’s ever-changing world.
Benefit from a small group, interactive learning environment, with access to state-of-the-art equipment for lab work, including high-powered computers, powerful lasers and microscopes, and biomaterial characterization tools.
- Work with mathematical and statistical software such as MATLAB, R and Sage Math in Trent’s Math Resource Room
- Apply your learning in international contexts through the Trent Physics study abroad program, where you will live and learn in a new part of the world
- Develop your abilities using state-of-the-art equipment, including high-powered computers, advanced lasers, powerful microscopes, and biomaterial characterization tools
- Network and make connections with top scientists and physics students from across the country at the Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference, which features special lectures and tours of research facilities
