Biography

Ellen Buck-McFadyen is a registered nurse who began her career in community and public health nursing within a variety of areas, such as family health, hospice, and street health. She began teaching at Trent University in 2008 on a part-time basis while completing graduate school. Her PhD research at McMaster University used mixed methods to explore the influence of social capital on rural health, and the focus of her ongoing research relates to the social determinants of health within a rural context, including issues such as homelessness and substance use. Ellen is an associate editor of the North American section of the journal Rural and Remote Health and graduate program director in the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing.
