Trent Community Extends Sympathy and Support for Syria and Türkiye

Trent University joins the international community in extending our concern, sympathy and support for those affected by the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Türkiye.

Our diverse close-knit community comes together at such times.

Resources and supports are available for students affected by disruption caused by the disaster. International students are encouraged to reach out to Trent International for assistance and support at international@trentu.ca or (705) 748-1314.

If you are looking for other ways to lend your support to the efforts to help the people of Syria and Türkiye, we recommend the following reputable organizations doing good work:

  • Canadian Red Cross: Donations made between February 6-22 will be matched by the Government of Canada
  • Médecins sans frontières (Doctors Without Borders)
  • Save the Children Emergency Fund
  • Humanitarian Coalition

If you feel the need for assistance or a listening ear, we encourage you to reach out to the services and supports available to you.

For students:

  • Counselling Services
    • Peterborough: 705-748-1386 or counselling@trentu.ca
    • Durham: durhamcounselling@trentu.ca
  • Multi-faith Network through Trent Spiritual Affairs:  volunteer chaplains and community liaisons from various faith traditions in the community
  • Peer Support: speak directly to trained peers

For staff and faculty:

  • Lifeworks: Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)
