Trent University Receives $50,000 installment from TD Bank Group for Undergraduate Awards and Scholarships

Trent University received a $50,000 cheque from TD Bank Group on Friday, April 4, 2014 for the TD Green Undergraduate Awards and Scholarship Fund, presented by Anthony Kellner, manager of TD Commercial Banking, Stephanie Tompkins and Clare Vassos, local TD branch managers.

The Fund was established to assist Trent undergraduate students studying in environmental programs such as ecological restoration, environmental and resource science, and Indigenous environmental studies, who have met specific standards of academic excellence and who have demonstrated financial need. The cheque presented today is the fourth of five installments generously donated by TD since the agreement began in 2011.

“Donors such as TD Bank Group enable our students to pursue their educational aspirations,” said Richard Morgan, Trent’s associate vice-president of Development, who accepted the cheque on behalf of the University. “We are grateful to have TD as a community partner.”

Mr. Kellner, Ms. Tompkins & Ms. Vassos also had the opportunity to meet with some of the students who have benefited from receiving these awards and scholarships, and hear their comments about how these opportunities supported their research and studies while at Trent University.

“Trent continues to be a hallmark institution in Peterborough and this scholarship fulfills TD’s mission of making a positive impact in our community by creating opportunities for young people,” Mr. Kellner said.
